An update from Slipstream HQ

Good Evening Slipstream Community,

“Anyone can lead when the plan is working. The best lead when the plan falls apart”
Robin Sharma

In this community, we have the best. And I assert that, knowing it will be tested in the coming weeks. And knowing that you will all rise to the challenges ahead. We are here to support you, so you can support your communities.

Here is an update from a quiet Slipstream HQ:

April/May Accountability Meetings

This round of accountability meetings will not be held in person. We will instead hold a 2-hour accountability webinar on the current date scheduled for your meeting. The timing for the webinar will be confirmed in the coming 24 hours.

Open Forum Discussions

In addition to the accountability webinar, we will also be scheduling an open forum discussion for each group that will likely run 90 minutes. Your coaches will update you with more information on these in the coming days. We are called Slipstream because it is more efficient to progress by supporting each other and reducing trial and error as a group. These webinars will be important to raise issues, offer guidance and share ideas.

Increased One-on-One Support

The coaches will be ramping up the one-to-one support, so expect for them to be checking in on you more often. It is likely they will be supporting you to update your budget, run some scenario plans, be a sounding board for the decisions ahead and ready to celebrate when you have good news to share.

Contingency Planning for Us and for You

When we started Slipstream one thing that was a non-negotiable for our current and future coaches was that they must have owned, operated and successfully exited their own businesses. What that means is that our coaches are not distracted with their own businesses during this important moment: your business is our main game.

Contingency for Slipstream

We have built in coaching capacity in a number of ways:

1. Our coaches have a relatively small number of firms so that we can offer unlimited and unmetered support for our clients

2. We have recently welcomed, Paul Little, to the coaching team. Many of you have met Paul at recent meetings. In the event that Scott or Phil are on holidays, become ill or need to care for others we have an incredibly capable coach that will be available to assist

“Having lived (and advised) through the 1987 stockmarket crash, 1994 Great Bond Massacre, 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, 2000 Dot Com Bust and the Global Financial Crisis from 2007 to 2009, like any experienced adviser, I know that this too shall pass.” Paul Little

3. Of course, I am also here to help and happy to be a sounding board in the weeks ahead

Contingency for You

In the event that you are personally affected by Coronavirus, either unwell yourself or needing to care for others, Slipstream has the resources to help assist and ameliorate the impact of your absence on your business. In your absence we can support your team, review communications to your client base and hold key people accountable to steady the ship.

For anyone who progresses to a severe case (approximately 15% of all cases) the rational decision is to focus exclusively on your health. In this situation, we’ve got your back.

Over the weeks and months ahead you will hear from us very regularly. We will be sharing good news stories, videos from your fellow members, advice from people who we hold in high regard and tools for you to use with your clients.

I’ll leave the last words to Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum:

“There are four ingredients in true leadership: brains, soul, heart and good nerves.”
